Our Easter Vacation

Last week we took a wonderful trip to Utah so Tyler could test for paramedic school and so we could attend our cousin Jeremy's wedding. It was a great week! Here are the highlights...

- 5 minutes into the trip (literally) Alex started throwing up over and over and over again. We stopped at a gas station and the wonderful Tyler cleaned her and the brand new car seat up while wearing rubber gloves. In retrospect, it was pretty funny. We made it 2 hours before she threw up again and ended up staying the night in a very crowded and seedy motel. We decided it was part car sick and part reaction to the MMR shot.

- The Easter egg hunt set up by the grandparents in which a very excited Ben (and Archie) found pretty much all the eggs except the surprise one with a note telling the finder that they would be changing all the babies diapers for the rest of the day. Yep, I found that one.

- Brazilian Lemonade 3 times.

- Geocaching with Kate and Kara!!!!! We found 6 caches out of 8 (and I'm pretty sure the other 2 had been stolen. )

- Cafe Rio

- The awesome deep fryer that the siblings in law got me for my birthday/ and zester.

- The wedding, delicious Lion House food and fun temple square walking afterwards.

- Games and Games galore

-Alex finally eating meals!!!!

-Having someone to watch LOST with

- The surprise water fight after a game of relay chalk charades outside that left Kate and I pretty soaked after the boys teamed up and turned on us. Of all the Brady water fights (and there have been oh so many) this was by far my favorite. Alex even got wet.

-Alex sleeping through the night!

-Seeing my brothers and them seeing Alex

We packed so much into that week that I'm sure I've left things out, but yes it was a fantastic vacation.

(I just love these pictures. Archie has become such a happy smiley baby and his laugh is just so cute! Although they are 8 months apart, Alex is a bit small and Archie is a bit big, and so they are pretty much the same size. It's so cute.)

Alex has grown into a teenager overnight. Today while I was trying to make bread and egg shaped rice crispy treats in the kitchen, she purposefully disobeyed me about 30 times in a row. She knows what 'NO' means, and it usually stops her. But today she figured out that when mom's hands are covered with melted marshmallows or bread dough, she can get away with things.
My dear friends Brianna and Brittany came out to visit today and it was so good talking to them. I had forgotten how much of a 'pick me up' girlfriends can be and have decided I need to try harder to get out more.
Last of all, Alex had her 1 year check up today. I was actually quite suprised by the news we got. I decided that I wasn't going to pay attention to, or care about the percentiles. I figure in this day and age being abnormal is usually better. Well, Alex is in the 80th percentile for weight and the 20th for height!!! I guess seeing how alll her relatives are tall or really tall, and seeing how she is such a stubborn picky eater I figured those percents would by switched. I'm not very worried, but I have decided to we need help......
Alex will not let me feed her anything, and of the items placed on her tray, the only ones that end up in her mouth instead of on the floor, are carrots, cheese, cereal and meat. Any ideas?! She won't eat unless she is feeding herself, and even then she would rather make a mess of it. The kid needs fruits and veggies but I can't figure out how to trick her into eating them without having to scrub the floor after every meal. I'm torn between trying to train her to stay sitting in her chair by only feeding her in the chair (hoping she will realize that the chair means food and if she leaves it, she goes hungry), and trying to shove anything I can in her mouth whenever and wherever I can.

Conference Sunday

We let the lambs out on the grass in between conference sessions yesterday. We took a lot of pictures, but I just love this one because of the trees. Tyler's dog is quite the sheep dog, and we had to keep it fenced up because it kept trying to herd the sheep when we wanted to play with them.

We keep a huge bag of lamb milk powder on the floor in the kitchen so it is easy to get to when it's time to mix up the milk. Alex recently discovered that right now the bag is just full enough, and she is just tall enough, to reach over and dip her fingers in the powder and then suck on them. I keep getting after her, but she always sneaks over when she thinks I'm not looking to take a dip. It's not bad for her, mostly fat and cows milk, but it's still gross/ adorable.

Oh what to do when the weather is bad.

Ok, so I finally saw "Twilight" the movie. I had been putting it off for months (i have a love/hate relationship with the books) but I actually loved it!!! I know, I'm so embarassed. I thought it was going to be terrible, but it was so entertaining, oh man. My favorite part was the beach scene, only because we went to that beach on our Oregon trip! It's the beach I wanted to spend all day at, but Alex decided to fall face first into the sand and proceeded to rub it all in her eyes, cutting our stay short. We did get an awsome panoramic shot of it though, great beach. sigh, great movie.

Ok, Alli and Katie (sorry Kyle nothing for you) your package is on it's way! (I'll post later to show the rest of you what I sent), but this is the first of a few packages I'm sending out to those who decided to participate in my "pay it forward" post. Yay!

In other news, Tyler got a dog tag printed that say's "Ashes", I lost that one. She is such a good tempered dog. Don't tell Tyler, but I think I might actually like her.

The Aprons

The past two weeks I've been spending my free time sewing all sorts of fun things. Mostly aprons. When I was in Highschool I babysat these adorable triplet girls, we are good friends with their family, and decided it would be fun to make them some aprons.

These are the aprons that the triplets choose. These also happen to by my favorite 3 and I think it's great that they are each so different and hopefully match the girls personalities. (up close they look better, you can actually see the star and flower patterns ).

These are a few of the crayon rolls I made. I love these~! They are so easy to make and so colorful and useful, perfect to put in your purse or take to church.

The Australian Bear Shephard

Tyler got a dog. It's a Australian Shephard, Catahoula mix, 8 months old. He is VERY excited about it. Its name is Captain, Tyler plans on calling it Ashes, I'm voting for DANGER! What do you think? I say we take it up to a vote, Tyler is more on the 'it's my dog, i'll call it what I want' route.
